Welcoming the New Year with NOTA’s Chinese New Year Menu : Round the table | 团圆

She · 3 February 2026

At NOTA, we’ve always believed that food is more than a meal. It’s a way to gather, to mark time, and to return to one another. As a neighbourhood cafe and restaurant in KL, our spaces in Kota Kemuning and Setia Alam were built with this exact idea in mind – tables meant for sharing, food meant for bringing people closer, and hospitality meant for conversations.

For Chinese New Year 2026, we return to a ritual many of us grew up with: Lou Sang, prepared with care, intention, and togetherness. We call our menu this year: Round The Table | 团圆.

A Lou Sang Made for Sharing

Every year starts the same for us here. We keep a small tradition at NOTA. Even though we’re not a Chinese restaurant, this is something many of us grew up with — gathering around the table, tossing yee sang, and yelling like the year depends on it.

Before it comes to you, our team gathers around it first. We jot down lou sang blessings for each ingredient, remind ourselves what each element represents, and practise on the side, a little clumsy, a little loud, always sincere. It’s our way of honouring the ritual before sharing it with our guests, whether you’re dining at our cafe in Kota Kemuning or in Setia Alam. .

Thoughtfully composed, NOTA’s Lou Sang brings together crisp textures, gentle acidity, and savoury depth. Fresh vegetables form the base, balanced with smoked salmon and golden tempeh, finished lightly with sesame oil and a bright passionfruit reduction.

Each ingredient is prepared on its own, then brought together at the table — ready to be tossed loudly, shared generously, and enjoyed in good company.

Ingredients

Iceberg lettuce, red cabbage, carrot, sengkuang, pickled onion, pomegranate, bunga kantan, crispy bok choi, tempeh, smoked salmon, iri shiro goma, sesame oil, and passionfruit reduction. Light, refreshing, and built for togetherness.

Chinese New Year Set Menus at NOTA

To complement our Lou Sang, we’ve curated three Chinese New Year set menus designed for reunions of different sizes from intimate gatherings to full family celebrations.

Each set begins with our Seasonal Yee Sang and flows naturally into dishes that are familiar, comforting, and meant to be shared across the table.

Whether you’re planning a family lunch, a group dinner, or looking for an event space with food that feels personal, our spaces in Kota Kemuning and Setia Alam are ready to host your celebration.
